LHC tells authorites to prevent smog from worsening
The Lahore High Court has told Lahore’s administration not to let the city’s smog situation to return to the levels of two weeks ago.
The LHC once again took up petitions filed by citizens asking for measures to combat smog on Wendesday.
The government’s lawyer told the court that members of the judicial commission have not been able to meet the chief minister yet and the meeting was likely to be arranged on October 17 or 18.
The lawyer also told the court that motorcycles used by Parks and Horticulture Authority employees were being changed to electric bikes.
Justice Shahid Kareem remarked that the smog situation had improved in Lahore due to the personal interest of the DC. However, he told the government lawyer not to let the levels of smog return to where they were two years ago.
The judge also asked when construction projects in Lahore would be completed to which the lawyer replied that 90% work was done.
The hearing was then adjourned till November 17.
