PTI chief’s aid claims attempts being made to keep Imran Khan in jail
PTI Chief Imran Khan’s legal aid Barrister Salman Safdar has alleged that attempts were being made to keep the PTI chief in jail.
“One man [Khan] has been charged with all kind of offenses including terrorism, National Accountability Bureau cases and Cypher case,” he told media outside Adiala jail on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the accountability court rejected the NAB’s plea seeking physical remand of the PTI chairman in the £190 million case.
The hearing was held at the Adiala Jail, where the former prime minister is currently incarcerated.
It is unfortunate that the former prime minister is being tried in a court over tires burning charges where dangerous cases have been held, he said.
“Imran Khan’s trial has been held in the same compound where the cases of Ajmal Kasab and Benazir Bhutto assassination case were held,” Barrister Safdar added.
He said that Khan and PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi had abundant time to meet their families from 9am in the morning till 5pm in the afternoon.
“Khan had a long interaction with his wife, three sisters, nephew, and his legal team who were also practically incarcerated along with the PTI chief,” he added.
Barrister Safdar said that he advised the National Accountability Bureau to arrest the former prime minister with care.
“They [NAB] then get embarrassed and have to release him. It would be better to not arrest Khan in such a bogus case,” he added.
