Lahore tops global list with worst air quality index

Operations against vehicles emitting smoke were being conducted through Safe City cameras

The Air Quality Index (AQI) of Lahore worsened after 401 unhealthy particles were present in the air. However, the authorities are taking action against vehicles that spread smoke.

Lahore has been recorded as the world’s most polluted city while, Dehli, Kolkata, Baghdad, and Karachi have also been recorded unhealthy air with AQI 369,179, 178, respectively.

On the other hand, operations against vehicles emitting smoke were being conducted through Safe City cameras, in which authorities seized 37 from different areas of Lahore.

The spokesperson said that the field force was alerted when a vehicle emitting smoke was seen on the cameras as the team was monitoring the entrance and exit of vehicles in Lahore.

The authorities are engaged in preventing pollution said a spokesperson, and requested citizens should report smog spreaders around them to emergency 15.

Meanwhile, the hazardous air situation in the neighbour Dehli is also impacting the AQI of Lahore.
