PPP’s Bilawal sees people giving surprise to ‘planners’ on Feb 8

Vows to provide ‘mazdoor card’, ‘haari card’
Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari addresses PPP power show in Mithi - Aaj News

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that the people would give a surprise to “planners” on February 8—the day on which Pakistan will have its elections—as they have suffered from the “selected” government.

“People will give surprise to those who in there are rooms are making plans and declaring their results,” he said while addressing party supporters in Tharparkar, Sindh on Monday. “For them, the people will give a response on February 8 and they won’t accept any conspiracy.”

He was in Sindh’s Thar, a Hindu dominated area, a day after the community celebrated Diwali. The province has been PPP’s den and strong vote bank in the city.

Elections in Pakistan are scheduled for next year and the Supreme Court has ordered the government and Election Commission of Pakistan to ensure polls without any hurdles.

Taking a jibe at the political parties, the scion of Bhutto dynasty said that the people would have three to four options including “Tehreek-e-Inteshar” and “Mehngai League”.

“If you are together we will let people’s party win,” he told a large number of crowd. “If because of former president Zardari’s effort their PM can be made, similarly because of Zardari a jiyala – name for PPP worker – will be the prime minister and foreign ministry. We will end old politics of hatred and division.”

Double salary and cards for farmers, labourers

Bilawal vowed to provide a ‘haari card’ and ‘mazoor card’ similar to the PPP introduced the Benazir Income Support Programme under which a welfare card was provided to needy families to meet their needs.

He also promised to double the salary in five years.

The PPP chief explained that the farmers’ card would directly help them in getting fertilizers and seeds. Through labourers’ cards, the party would help them in providing healthcare and education.

“This revolutionary work is needed to support the downtrodden segment,” Bilawal said and reiterated that the party would contest the election without any alliance or support.

No rivals

In his speech, the PPP chief said that his party has no opponents except poverty, unemployment and inflation.

“There is no party that I will say they are our rival. I am the grandson of Quaid-e-Awam and son of Benazir Bhutto; my opponents are poverty and unemployment, inflation,” he said.

Bilawal shared that the party’s slogan would remain to be ‘roti, kapra aur makan’ until poverty and unemployment were ended in the country.

“This is part of our manifesto. But if you ask me what is PPP’s manifesto in the 2024 election. I will say Tharparkar is the manifesto of PPP,” he said and added that the Thar Block I would also create job opportunities like the Thar Block II.

While speaking about his experience of serving as the foreign minister, Bilawal said that he tried to end the misperception about Pakistan during his visit to India to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit.

“The answer to this misperception was my people of Tharparkar,” he said and claimed that the BJP government did not represent minorities

“I spoke about my Mahesh Kumar Malani that the PPP made history by having Malani elected to a general seat. So those who consider Pakistan as a terrorist country, those who hatch a conspiracy against Pakistan and belittle Pakistan the response is PPP and Thar,” Bilawal said.
