Infant death toll rising at al-Shifa, says ministry
Palestinian officials said on Friday that 11,078 Gaza residents have been killed
None of the hospitals in the northern Gaza Strip are operational, the Hamas-run health ministry said on Monday, as intense fighting rages between Israeli troops and Hamas militants.
Youssef Abu Rish, deputy health minister in the Hamas-run Gaza Strip, told AFP all hospitals in the north of the enclave were “out of service”.

- WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has warned of a “dire and perilous” situation in Gaza’s hospitals, saying that more patients, including, premature babies are “tragically” dying.
- Gaza’s two largest hospitals, Al-Shifa and Al-Quds, have both closed. Israeli snipers continue to fire at anyone near Al-Shifa Hospital, trapping thousands inside.
- The International Committee of the Red Cross has said the conditions under which civilians are evacuating in the Gaza Strip are “precarious and unsafe”.
- European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell has said “pauses” are needed to enable the evacuation of hospital patients who need urgent medical care.
- Hospitals in the north of the Palestinian enclave, including the al-Shifa complex, are blockaded by Israeli forces and barely able to care for those inside, with three newborns dead at Shifa and more at risk from power outages amid intense fighting nearby, according to medical staff.
