Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar returned to Pakistan on Sunday after completing his three-day official visit to Saudi Arabia where he attended the Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit in Riyadh over the Gaza situation and met Muslim leaders.

The PTV News shared the update on X. Earlier, at the King Khalid International Airport, the prime minister was seen off by the high diplomatic officials of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

During his visit, the prime minister addressed the summit and held meetings with the Arab and Islamic countries leaders on the sidelines of the main event.

The KSA had hosted the Joint Arab Islamic Extraordinary Summit where the Muslim leaders from the Arab and Islamic world gathered to discuss the worsening situation in Gaza and the future strategy.

The prime minister also met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Meshal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on the sidelines of the summit.

In his address at the Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit in Riyadh, the prime minister condemned the Israeli aggression and the inhumane blockade of Gaza that has resulted in death, destruction, and displacement, reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity and support for the Palestinian people and for their right to self-determination.

He underscored that an early establishment of a viable, secure, contiguous and sovereign state of Palestine on the basis of the pre-June 1967 borders and with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, was the only guarantee for lasting peace and security in the region.

The summit called for an immediate ceasefire, an end to ongoing Israeli aggression and siege of Gaza, deaths and destruction, the opening of a humanitarian corridor and immediate implementation of a two-state solution.

Economic ties

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar and Saudi Arabia Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman have reaffirmed the resolve to further strengthen the longstanding Pakistan-Saudi relations for a mutually rewarding economic partnership.

The two leaders also exchanged views on bilateral matters.

Kakar appreciated the role and efforts of Saudi Arabia in promoting the Palestinian cause. He thanked the Saudi leadership for the timely initiative of convening the summit with a view to evolving Joint Arab-Islamic Action on the deteriorating situation in the occupied Palestinian territories.

While meeting Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, interim PM Kakar emphasised that international forces should play their role in the Gaza ceasefire and ending the massacre of Palestinians, especially children.

The prime minister conveyed solidarity of Pakistan with the Palestinian people and “strongly denounced” the indiscriminate use of force by Israeli occupation forces and bombing of hospitals, refugee camps, schools and residential buildings, resulting in the loss of more than ten thousand precious lives and forced displacement of Palestinian families.
