Major pipeline supplying water to Karachi bursts
Repairs are expected to take 24 hours
A pipeline carrying water from the Dhabeji pumping station to Karachi burst on Sunday, affecting the supply of five million gallons of water to the city.
Authorities said that the the 72-inch diameter pipeline burst due to an electrical failure near dawn on Sunday.
Waterboard officials said that repair works on the pipeline have still not been initiated. When begun, the repair work is expected to take 24 hours.
Officials also said that the same pipeline has burst three times in the last month alone.
