Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar is in Saudi Arabia for the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit on Gaza convened by the kingdom in Riyadh on Saturday.

A picture of the Islamic leaders emerged in media during the Summit where the interim PM representing Pakistan is seen standing in the back row of the leaders.

PM Kakar is seen standing in the second row behind Egypt’s Abdel Fattah El-Sisi who was standing in the first row along with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Turkiye President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas among others.

Analyst Baqir Sajjad said the picture showed that diplomatic shifts, economic challenges, and geopolitical nuances play a role in a country’s international standing.

“Pakistan’s prime minister in the back row of OIC summit photo reflects evolving dynamics,” he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

A day earlier, PM Kakar met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Riyadh and emphasised that international forces should play their role in the Gaza ceasefire and ending the massacre of Palestinians, especially children.

The two leaders emphasised the urgency of an unconditional ceasefire, end to the siege of Gaza and smooth delivery of vital humanitarian aid and medical assistance to the affected population.
