Balochistan: Surge in congo virus cases prompts govt to declare health emergency

This year, the number of people who have died from this virus has reached 18.

As the number of cases reached 44 in Balochistan from the Congo virus the government of Balochistan has enforced a health emergency in the province.

In the meeting chaired by caretaker chief minister Balochistan, it was announced that in a bid to control the Congo virus cases the health emergency has been implemented in the province.

It was briefed at the meeting that 44 cases of Congo virus have been reported in Balochistan so far. Two more healthcare workers affected by the Congo virus are being transferred to Karachi by air ambulance, for which the Sindh government is in touch with the Agha Khan Hospital and other hospitals. Arrangements for treatment in private hospitals were completed.

The interim CM directed the Livestock Department to immediately begin spraying disinfectants in the cattle markets across the province. For this, all Divisional Commissioners and Livestock Officers should keep a close eye on the situation. It has been decided to impose a ban under Section 144.

The Government of Balochistan announced to provide all privileges to Dr Shukrullah Jan as a martyred.

The virus initially spread from a patient belonging to Harnai, he was shifted to civil hospital Quetta, on October 22, and he was diagnosed Congo positive on October 25.

It was also informed at the meeting that samples of 112 people, including staff, and inpatients, have been obtained from the affected ward of the civil hospital.

Another patient of Congo virus died in Quetta, after which the death toll from this virus has increased to 18.

A 37-year-old Congo virus patient was under treatment at Fatima Jinnah Hospital.

This year, the number of people who have died from this virus has reached 18.

Earlier, a doctor infected with the Congo virus died in a private hospital in Karachi.

Dr. Shukrullah was posted at Quetta Civil Hospital, and 7 people including him were shifted to a private hospital in Karachi by air ambulance in critical condition.

However, Dr Shukrullah died during the treatment, he was diagnosed with the virus three days ago.
