Fawad Chaudhry sent on two-day remand
Former Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry sent on a two-day physical remand after he was produced in a local court in Islamabad on Sunday.
Chaudhry was brought to court in an armored vehicle with a black cloth over his head.
His brothers and wife were also present at the court. His brother, Faisal Chaudhry, who is also acting at his laywer protested strongly at his face being covered.
The prosecution asked for a five-day remand but the judge approved a two-day remand only.
The court also asked for the FIR against Chaudhry to be read out. It was then revealed that Fawad was arrested on charges of accepting a bribe of Rs500,000 for promising a job to the complainant.
The complainant, a man named Muhammad Zaheer, said that Chaudhry issued him a death threat when he asked for his money to be returned.
However, Fawad raised doubts over the complainant and his inability to even appear in court during the hearing. He also told the court that he needs medical attention as he has is suffering from an ailment in his lungs.
Chaudhry had been arrested from his brother’s house on Saturday.
