As Pakistan has launched a nationwide crackdown against undocumented immigrants, over 200 Afghan nationals were repatriated to their country after the deadline expired.

According to the data shared by law enforcement agencies, at least 261 Afghan nationals were expelled from Karachi to Afghanistan by the thoroughfare of the Chaman border.

The statistics indicate the authorities sent 135 refugees in five buses on Friday from Karachi to Chaman, where they stayed at temporary camps.

Zahoor Ali Murree, an official looking into the matter of undocumented immigrants told Aaj News that they brought immigrants from 1000 camps, and those who will not have documents will sent to Chaman.

“We have identified 47 as illegal, as they didn’t have legal papers, we are lifting all those who have documents,” Murree said.

However, Prime Minister of Afghanistan Mulla Muhammad Hassan Akhund in a video statement demanded respite for the process of repatriation and requested religious leaders to raise their voices against the eviction.

“Afghan citizen assisted Pakistan in agriculture, trade, and in other fields for 45 years and played their roles in the development of Pakistan. Their houses should not be raided, and their finance should not be seized, give them adequate time for evacuation,” he added.

The deadline provided by the government has been ended on November 1, as thousands of Afghan nations across the country were returning to their home.
