Asim Jamil, the son of Islamic scholar Maulana Tariq Jamil was laid to rest in a local graveyard in Tulamba town of Mian Channu in Punjab after his funeral prayer was offered on Monday.

Prominent politicians and religious personalities among others were present in funeral prayers.

The Islamic scholar’s son died of a bullet injury to the chest. He was moved to the hospital in an injured condition, but he succumbed to his injury during the initial treatment.

Jamil led the funeral prayer in which JI Chief Sirajul Haq, the additional inspector general of South Punjab, and RPO Multan were present among others.

Strict security measures were in place while a helipad was built for the arrival of high-ranking officials.

Maulana Jamil’s other son Maulana Yusuf Jamil later said that there was no enmity with his family, and there was no truth in the news of his brother’s murder.

In his message on the social website, he said that Asim Jamil had been suffering from depression since childhood and had been treated with electric shocks for the last six months.
