A special team of the Mianwali Police on Saturday arrived in Adiala Jail to interrogate PTI Chairman Imran Khan in cases pertaining to the May 9 riots, sources said.

However, the former prime minister refused to answer the team’s question without the presence of his legal team, they added.

The team led by Superintendent Police Shaukat departed after Khan refused to answer queries put forward by the team.

It is pertinent to mention that several investigation teams have arrived in the last 24 hours at the Adiala jail to investigate Khan in several cases.

A day earlier, a special court allowed the police to interrogate the former prime minister and ex-foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi in cases related to the May 9 events.

Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain, who gave the orders, said he was giving the permission only for investigation according to the law.

Khan is currently in Adiala Jail in the cypher case registered under the Official Secrets Act. The case accuses him of revealing contents of a ‘classified’ cipher sent when he was prime minister, thus violating the Official Secrets Act.

He was kept in Attock Jail since his arrest in August but was recently moved to Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi on the orders of the Islamabad High Court.
