Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Tauqir Shah has resigned from his position.

A notification issued by the Establishment Division on Friday said that Shah’s resignation had been accepted with effect from October 31.

The notification added that Shah had been given a relaxation to allow him to leave without serving one month’s notice.

Shah had been appointed to serve Shehbaz Sharif when the latter took over as Prime Minister in April 2022 and was given a one-year extension in December on a contractual basis.

In September, Shah was appointed as the World Bank’s executive director for a four-year term.

Reports had claimed at the time that he had wished to resign at the time but been asked to stay by Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar until the completion of his term.
