Shahnawaz Amir rejects all charges in Sara Inam murder case
Shahnawaz Amir, the prime suspect in the Sara Inam murder case, denied all allegations against him in his statement under Section 342 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
Amir gave the statement before Additional District and Sessions Islamabad Judge Nasir Javed Rana amid tight security on Wednesday. He said that he would present evidence in his defence in the next hearing.
In his statement before the court, the prime suspect said that he and Sara Inam married in July of last year without asking her parents, due to which his in-laws were unhappy with their marriage.
According to him, on the night of the alleged murder, Sara came to the house where Amir’s mother cooked food and the three of them ate together while having a good chat.
He went on to add that Sara woke up and went to the washroom at night. He maintained that he woke up at 7am in the morning and went to F8 market in Islamabad to get breakfast.
Amir claimed that he found Sara’s lifeless body in the bathtub when he came back home at 9am.
The suspect said that he got scared seeing Sara’s lifeless body and told his mother Samina Shah, who then called Mir’s father journalist Ayaz Amir, and informed him about the incident after which the police arrived at the scene and registered a case against him.

He alleged that a fabricated case was registered against him and his family as his father criticised the former PDM government and supported PTI.
According to Amir, Sarah may have slipped in the bathroom and died after getting hit on the head, while alleging that an unidentified individual may have killed his wife in his absence.
He also accused the police of not obtaining the CCTV footage of his house deliberately.
The court adjourned the hearing of the Sara Inam murder case till November 1.
