Alleged kidnapping outside KU turns out to be failed robbery
The alleged kidnapping of Karachi University’s female students on Tuesday has now been revealed to be a failed robbery.
In a statement to the the police, the affected woman said that two armed men arrived on a motorcycle and tried to rob woman at the bus stop outside KU.
She also said that more than six women were at the site of the incident at the time and the two men, whose ages were between 18 and 20, tried to snatch their mobile phones and laptops. The women managed to save themselves by fleeing to a wedding hall and called 15.
The complainant clarified that the two men went away when the women shouted for help and did not try to abduct anyone.
The woman also told the police that they did not wished to pursue the case any further but said that female students should be provided security.
SSP East Irfan Bahadur said that the police is viewing CCTV footage to track down the men involved in the incident. He also said that he had personally visited the site of the incident and spoken to the university adminsitration.
