World Cup 2023: India remain undefeated after victory against New Zealand

India defeated New Zealand by four wickets in Dharamsala on Sunday to remain the only unbeaten team in the World Cup.

The hosts of the World Cup chased down the 274 target with 12 balls remaining on the back of a brilliant innigs of Virat Kohli who scored 94 off 104 balls.

The World Cup match between India and New Zealand was resumed on Sunday after it was delayed due to bad weather. The hosts were two down for a score of 100 in 16 overs when the game was stopped.

India had a good start while chasing 274 total set by New Zealand. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill made a partnership of 71 runs. Sharma was bowled by Lockie Ferguson.

Batting first, the Blackcaps were all out on 273, powered by Daryl Mitchell’s sparkling century.

For India, Mohammed Shami took a fifer in his first game of the ongoing edition of the World Cup in India.

Mitchell struck a sparkling century to pull New Zealand towards a competitive total against India in the top-of-the-table World Cup clash between two unbeaten teams.

New Zealand were 211 on the loss of four wickets in the 39th over as they took on India in Dharamsala in their World Cup match on Sunday.

Opening batters Devon Conway and Will Young were quick to get out, managing to add just 19 runs to the total.

However, Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell provided stability to the Blackcaps’ innings by building a partnership of 159, before Ravidra fell after scoring 75 off 87 balls.

Meanwhile, Mitchell was unbeaten on 96 and was just a boundary short of his century.

India chose to field against New Zealand in their World Cup clash in Dharamsala. Only one team will be left unbeaten in the tournament at the end of the game.

The teams will take to the field in the 21st match of the tournament at 1:30pm today.

New Zealand have defeated England, Netherlands, Bangladesh and Afghanistan in the tournament so far.

Meanwhile, India are coming off wins against Australia, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.

The pitch in Dharmasala is expected to favour quicker bowlers.

New Zealand have defeated India only once in World Cups since 1992.
