Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki will release a day before Saalar: report
Shah Rukh Khan’s much anticipated movie, Dunki, with Rajkumar Hirani will get an upper hand over KGF fame director’s Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire as the former would be released on December 21, according to Bollywood Hungama.
The poster of the movie went viral on social media on Friday, showing Khan wearing a camouflage colour bag and holding a bag and a shopper. “A soldier’s journey to keep a promise,” said the poster.
Dunki, a social comedy, is the first collaboration between the Jawan actor and the Munna Bhai series director. Earlier, there were reports that the two films would clash on December 22 after Salaar makers announce their release date.
Salaar, directed by Prashant Neel, is an action film and its trailer showed the same vibes that fans saw in the series of KGF film.
A source told the Indian media outlet that the decision was taken in order to have an additional day without competition, adding that it would boost word of mouth.
“In fact, people would be raving about Dunki and its content even before a single show of Salaar rolls out,” the source said, adding that the premium screens would go to Dunki.
Indian reports said that Shah Rukh Khan, who is known as ‘King Khan’ among his fans, would end the year on a high note after two of his films, Pathaan and Jawan, this year collected more than 1,000 Indian crore rupees worldwide each.
Earlier this week, casting director Mukesh Chhabra told a media outlet that the subject of Dunki would be talked about for the next 10 years.
“It’s a big journey film and goes through different areas around the world and finally comes back home to India,” Shah Rukh Khan said at the Red Sea International Film Festival last year.
