The emerging tropical storm would not impact the coastal area of Pakistan due to the favourable environmental conditions, said the Pakistan Meteorological Department.

Due to favourable environmental conditions, the system is likely to intensify further into a depression and move in the west/northwest direction towards the Oman-Yemen coast however, none of Pakistan’s coastal areas is likely to be impacted by the system.

The cyclone developed from an area of atmospheric pressure to a depression centre south-central of the Arabian Sea. The cyclone could hit within 48 hours.

The PMD’s Cyclone Warning Centre said on Friday that Karachi informed that a well-marked low-pressure area (strong weather system) lies over the Southwest Arabian Sea at a distance of about 1810km southwest of Karachi & 1750km south of Gwadar.
