BNP’s Akhtar Mengal accuses interior minister Sarfraz Bugti of running death squad
The chief of the Balochistan National Party Sardar Akhtar Mengal has alleged that Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti was running death squads under the patronage of the state.
“Everybody knows how many people have been killed and abducted by this death squad. At the moment, rockets fell near me where I am right now,” he said in an exclusive interview on Spot Light with Munizae Jahangir on Wednesday.
He alleged that two of his employees were hurt in firing on his house. “My house was hit with bullets fired from heavy weapons and rockets. People fear for their lives in Wadh.”
He claimed that one-sided decisions were made by the provincial apex committee during its recent meeting.
Mengal alleged that attempts were made to create tensions in Wadh and that such actions are being taken because the BNP has consistently represented Balochistan in the provincial and federal legislatures.
When asked about the announcement of a long march to Quetta, Mengal said that it is unlikely the government will allow them to organise the long march on October 22 as the provincial government has imposed Section 144 in several cities of Balochistan.
Responding to a question on elections, he said that the decision-makers did not seem to be in the mood to hold elections in January or February of next year.
“If elections were to be held, PML-N might not be able to secure the results it wants in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” the BNP chief added.
