As Israeli forces continued bombing Gaza, several players of the Pakistan cricket team posted the Palestinian flag on their X account to show solidarity with the people of Palestine.

Vice-captain of Pakistan Shadab Khan posted the flag of Palestine with emoji used to symbolise “peace is wanted instead of war.”

The Green Shirts are currently in India to participate in the World Cup. The Babar Azam-led side has played three matches, winning two games while losing to India. They will play their fourth game against Australia on October 20.

Fast bowler Haris Rauf also shared a Palestinian flag with an emoji often used to represent praying.

Allrounder Iftikhar Ahmad shared an image of the flag with a peace symbol, praying, a broken heart, and a pleading face.

Earlier, Mohammad Rizwan dedicated his match-winning century against Sri Lanka to the ‘brothers and sisters in Gaza’.

“This was for our brothers and sisters in Gaza,” he wrote before adding: “Happy to contribute in the win. Credits to the whole team and especially Abdullah Shafique and Hassan Ali for making it easier. Extremely grateful to the people of Hyderabad for the amazing hospitality and support throughout.”

Spin bowler Usama Mir also showed solidarity with Palestinians by sharing their flag with a peace sign.

Similarly, allrounder Muhammad Nawaz also posted a flag of Palestine, after Israeli air strikes on a Gaza hospital, al-Ahli Arab Hospital, compound killed hundreds.

It is pertinent to mention that a complaint was filed by an Indian lawyer with the International Cricket Council against Rizwan for offering prayer on the field and dedicating Pakistan’s victory over Sri Lanka to the people of Gaza.
