A couple was allegedly killed inside a mosque for getting married for marrying by their own choice in Pind Dadan Khan in Jhelum.

Rehman Rasool and Safia had recently left their homes to get married. However, they were sent a message of reconciliation by the girl’s family after which they came to her house.

Police said that an argument began between the family and the couple at the house prompting Rasool and Safia to escape and take refuge in the mosque.

However, the girl’s family allegedly showed up at the mosque and shot the couple to death.

Police said they were informed of the crime by a local shepherd after which they arrived at the mosque and shifted the bodies to the Tehsil Headquarter Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

An investigation has been launched into the incident after collecting evidence and police is carrying out raids to arrest the accused.
