Court allows Imran Khan to make international phone call to sons
A special court allowed former Prime Minister Imran Khan to speak to his sons from jail on Wednesday.
Judge Abu Alhasnaat Zulqurnain presided over the hearing on Wendesday where he ordered the Adiala Jail superintendent to speak to his sons via telephone.
Lawyer Sheraz Ahmad Ranjha told the court said that all prisoners were allowed to speak to their families on the phone and the calls are usually allowed on Saturday.
The judge observed that the Adiala Jail superintendent had submitted jail SOPs which said that phone calls were not allowed to people incarcerated under the Official Secrets Act.
The lawyer said that although it was not mentioned in the jail manual, international phone calls were allowed under by the Federal Shariat Court in a judgement.
Ranjha submitted the Shariat Court judgement he had cited in the court at which the judge ruled that the phone call should be allowed.
The lawyer also demanded that the jail superintendent in Attock jail should be issued a show-cause notice since he had misstated facts in front of the court.
Imran Khan is currently in Adiala Jail in the cipher case registerd under the Official Secrets Act. The case accuses him of revealing contents of a ‘classified’ cipher sent when he was prime minister, thus violating the Official Secrets Act.
