Artists revive old memories of world cinema
Organizing an art exhibition at a local art gallery in Karachi - Aaj News

Waheed Murad, Baazi, Titanic, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, and much more were the showpieces of the art gallery in Karachi on Tuesday. Artists with their skill revived the old memories of films. They used pen, paintbrush, and digital techniques to present old film posters on canvas.

The work of as many as eight artists through their art reminded the people of old movies.

Artist Zahid Hussain made a portrait of Munawar Zarif and Rangeela from cigarette filters. The two famous actors’ image portrait was drawn against the yellow brick backdrop.

“The purpose of making this art is that our old generation should know that clean films were made in our times,” he told Aaj News.

Photographer Rahmatullah Khan’s work won hearts at the gallery. He made a portrait of Waheed Murad, also known as the Chocolate Hero of Pakistani cinema, through 400 posters of the famous hero.

He told Aaj News that old things cannot be finished but stressed the need for adopting new technologies.

Actor Sajid Hasan was one of the attendants at the event. While seeing the art pieces, he said that they were original movie posters. “I felt very happy to see the pictures of Waheed Murad and Muhammad Ali because I was their fan.”

Female artist Fauzia Khan said that an artist’s thoughts and views were different from those of a common person.

Giving an example of one of her paintings, she said that a common eye would see these bubbles and waves of the sea, but if you understand it, they were dervishes who were dancing.

Visitors to the art exhibition appreciated the unique art.
