Five Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials have been found involved in the case of kidnapping for ransom as the agency initiated a probe into the matter after a victim registered a complaint .

The matter appeared on the surface after a resident of Lahore identified as Majid filed a complaint in the FIA cyber crime cell in which he informed he was kidnapped from Haripur, and Inspector Waqas, Fakhar, Abbas, Musadiq, and Hamza held him hostage for two days and asked for ransom worth Rs30 million.

The officers investigated him on different sports websites and tortured him as well, he added.

According to the sources, all accused were contractual employees of FIA and also threatened the victim after his complaint registered to the cyber crime cell.

It added that Inspector Waqas and Inspector Musadiq had gone to Haripur for a fake reason they told the office clerk that they were going on a special assignment on the advice of the Additional director.

The official recommended wrapping up the accused officers’ tenure and said that the case was based on fact as the accused created assets beyond their income within a few years.

However, the additional director general FIA Ahmed Jahangir Ishaque issued an order to conduct an inquiry against them, but the sources revealed that despite the existence of CCTV the gang of FIA’s cybercrime has not faced any action.
