The Supreme Court has provided another chance to all parties to submit in writing if they want to disclose facts pertaining to the Faizabad sit-in case.

In his written order on Monday, Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa said that since adjournments have been sought and as certain parties were not in attendance, therefore, all the aggrieved and those whose interest may be affected were given another opportunity to submit documents and written submission.

“If any party or any one wants to file anything the same be filed by or before Friday, 27 October 2023. Hearing is adjourned to Wednesday, 1 November 2023,” he added.

CJP Isa called it surprising that some parties had stated publicly that they knew what had happened, yet the judgment did not consider their point of view.

In this regard, he noted paragraph 17 of the judgment that said: ’All the hearings in this case were conducted in open court. We had permitted those aggrieved and those whose interest may be affected to come forward and had also permitted them to file documents and written submission.“

The Faizabad sit-in judgement was announced by now Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa after a suo-motu notice was taken in 2017. The written order was issued in February 2019.

It is pertinent to mention that multiple review petitions were filed in the Faizabad sit-in case including the PTI, Intelligence Bureau, Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority, MQM, former interior minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, and the Election Commission among others.

The PTI, IB, Pemra, and the ECP later sought the withdrawal of their review petitions.
