Pakistan’s cricket team is facing concerns over their spin bowling capabilities as they prepare for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023.

Despite having a strong pace attack, the team’s spinners have been struggling with form and performance.

Pakistan’s cricket team has a strong pace attack, which comprises Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, Hasan and Mohammed Waseem.

Following team performance in Asia Cup, many former cricketers have suggested the need for a spin bowling coach, highlighting the crucial role spinners play in the middle overs.

Former Pakistan pacer Aaqib Javed while talking to Aaj News commented, “The player is not at fault. If you select him, he will play. If you don’t select him, he won’t play. But today we are recognizing that our bowling is weak. We knew that the Asia Cup was coming and the World Cup is on us. Then you should have maximized your options. Today we are talking about Imad Waseem. We have discarded him for the last three years. It’s about the team management and continuity in the PCB management.’

Sports analyst and journalist Syed Yahya Hussaini said that the Pakistan cricket team’s management and selection committee had known their team’s bowling resources. If the spin bowling attack is not working in the middle overs, then Shadab, Nawaz, and Osama were backed and continued by the same team management. They relied on them and trusted them. If we talk about fast bowling, there’s also a dent due to the absence of Nasim Shah, but Wasim Junior is still part of this team even without performing.

Meanwhile, Naseem’s unavailability is a big loss for the Pakistani cricket team, who has been replaced by Hasan Ali but spin bowling department has also been struggling with form and performance.

The team’s preferred spin options are Shadab Khan and Mohammed Nawaz.

They have played ODIs with the team over the last two years and have performed well.

However, they did not perform well in the recently concluded Asia Cup.

The team and fans will be eagerly watching to see if Pakistan can address their spin bowling concerns and compete at the highest level in the tournament.

Pakistan’s hopes for a successful World Cup campaign will depend on the spinners’ ability to step up and contribute significantly.
