Former Pakistan pacer Aaqib Javed while talking to Aaj News commented, “The player is not at fault. If you select him, he will play. If you don’t select him, he won’t play. But today we are recognizing that our bowling is weak. We knew that the Asia Cup was coming and the World Cup is on us. Then you should have maximized your options. Today we are talking about Imad Waseem. We have discarded him for the last three years. It’s about the team management and continuity in the PCB management.’

Sports analyst and journalist Syed Yahya Hussaini said that the Pakistan cricket team’s management and selection committee had known their team’s bowling resources. If the spin bowling attack is not working in the middle overs, then Shadab, Nawaz, and Osama were backed and continued by the same team management. They relied on them and trusted them.
