Police investigate Mastung bombing as FIR registered against unknown persons
The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) registered a first information report of the Mastung suicide blast in which at least 55 including DSP were martyred and 66 sustained injuries.
The body parts of the suspected suicide bombers have been sent for a DNA test.
The CTD is also using geofencing as one of the investigative techniques to pin down the group behind the bombing.
No one claimed responsibility for the one of deadliest attacks in Pakistan. The outlawed TTP said on Friday that it was not behind Mastung and Hangu attacks that came on the day Muslims were celebrating the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Police have booked unknown attackers in the FIR registered under the explosives act. It also includes provisions of murder, attempted murder and terrorism.
According to the CTD spokesperson, no arrests have been made so far.
A meeting chaired by Caretaker Chief Minister Balochistan, Ali Mardan Domki, was told that the suicide bomb contained six to eight kilograms of explosive material.
At least 55 people were martyred and 66 injured in a suicide attack during an Eid Miladun Nabi procession in Balochistan’s Mastung city.
FIR of Hangu mosque blasts registered at CTD Kohat
A first information report of the Hangu mosque blast was filed at the CTD Kohat with SHO Shabrez Khan as the complainant.
The FIR invoked Section 7 (Punishment for acts of terrorism) of the anti-terrorism act, Section 324 (Attempt to commit qatl-i-amd, Section 302 (Punishment of qatl-i-amd), Section 427 (Mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) and Section 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
A day earlier, twin blasts resulted in the killing of at least five worshipers and injuring several others in a mosque during Friday prayers near Doaba police station in Hangu city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Police officials said two suspected suicide bombers drove to the mosque in a vehicle when the Friday congregation was being held.
Senior district police officer Nisar Ahmad told AFP that the two militants were armed with automatic firearms, hand grenades, and suicide vests.
They attempted to enter the mosque but were challenged by the police security guards, who shot dead one of the bombers. The other managed to enter the mosque where he blew himself up, bringing down the building.
The concrete roof of the small mosque caved in on the worshipers below.
