With dozens of corruption cases reopening in the light of Supreme Court judgement, the National Accountability Bureau has decided to get the services of intelligence officials to aid its efforts.

The Bureau has already written a letter to heads of intelligence agencies with the approval of the NAB chairman. The intelligence officials will be brought to work at NAB on deputation.

The bureau is aiming to fill all vacant posts in its office to handle the larger workload coming in the upcoming days. Sources also said that permanent appointments to the post of proscutor general and deputy chairman are also likely to be made soon.

Outgoing Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial had struck down amendments to the NAB law in his last judgement, saying parliament had gone beyond its powers by making the amendment.

The result of quashing the amendments was that dozens of corruption cases that had been closed after the amendments have not been reopened.
