Jhelum police suspended three officials for allegedly cutting deal with a British national accused of fraud and allowing him to escape the country. The officials reportedly beat up the man in custody as well.

A complaint had been filed by man named Hassan Butt against another man named Shoaib Ahmad, who is a British national in the City police station.

Butt had alleged that Ahmad had rented a car from him but had sold it in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa instead of returning it.

The complaint added that Ahmad and his associates had removed the car’s trackers. A video showing the act was obtained by Aaj News as well.

However, the police officials allegedly arrested Ahmad and brought him to ASI Tanveer’s room in the police station. A video showed the police officials brutally beating up the man inside the station as he lay facedown on the floor.

Butt alleges that after beating up the man, police not only cut a deal with him but also escorted him to the airport themselves, from where he left the country.

He also alleged that police only filed the case against the car theft once Ahmad was safely outside the country.

DPO Jhelum took notice of the incident and suspended the three officials. He also formed a team under SP investigation to investigate the amtter.
