While tensions continue to rise between India and Canada over the killing of Hardeep Sing, reports emerged that another Sikh separatist was killed in Canada on Thursday.

The man identified as Sukhdool Singh aka Sukha Duneke was reportedly shot and killed in Winnipeg, Canada.

A report by the Hindustan Times said that Singh escaped from India to Canada in 2017 on fake documents. The report added that he had seven criminal cases registered against him.

India media attributed the death to gang warfare.

Earlier in the week, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told an emergency session of the House of Commons that his government was looking into ‘credible allegations’ that India might have been involved in the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar on Canadian soil.

Trudeau described the act as a violation of the country’s sovereignty and said he would raise the matter with the leaders of UK and US as well.

The speech led to a diplomatic standoff between the two countries and both expelled diplomats and issued travel advisories for their citizens.

Nijjar was a member of the Khalistan Tiger Force, the armed wing of a group that works for separation of Punjab from India.

More details to come.
