ASF arrest suspect for smuggling heroin-soaked Ihram at Islamabad Airport
The Airport Security Force Islamabad arrested a man for allegedly trying to smuggle heroin weighing 5.4 kilogrammes concealed in Ihram at the Islamabad International Airport.
The suspect, who was going to Saudi Arabia for the Umrah pilgrimage, had hidden the narcotics in Ihram, a plain white clothing worn by Muslims on Hajj or Umrah pilgrimages.
The ASF said that the accused had soaked three Ihrams with a solution of heroin, which was detected during the examination of the clothes.
The suspect was handed over to the Anti-Narcotics Force after initial investigation.
Reports said the drug absorbed by the garments will be extracted through an ANF chemical process.
