Google co-founder ‘splits up’ with wife after her alleged affair with Elon Musk
Google co-founder Sergey Brin has divorced his estranged wife Nicole Shanahan after she was accused of having an affair with X, formerly known as Twitter, owner Elon Musk, Page Six reported.
But both, Shanahan and Musk, have rejected such allegations.
Court documents showed that the judge signed off on the duo’s split on May 26. The closed case filing added that the former couple would share joint legal and physical custody of their four-year-old daughter.
Any financial issues were kept confidential and would be solved by the pair’s prenuptial agreement.
Brin, 50, filed for divorce from Shanahan, 34, on January 6, 2022, after three years of marriage, citing “irreconcilable differences.”
Media reports say that Shanahan, who is also a California attorney, grew close to Musk after Brin helped fund Tesla, the SpaceX founder’s electric car company. They both were friends.
“Sergey and I are friends and were at a party together last night!” Musk said in a social media post following the Wall Street Journal’s report about the alleged relationship between the billionaire and the attorney in July 2022.
“I’ve only seen Nicole twice in three years, both times with many other people around. Nothing romantic,” he had added. The title of the story was Elon Musk’s Friendship With Sergey Brin Ruptured by Alleged Affair.
In an interview with People magazine earlier this year, Shanahan denied having a romantic relationship or an affair with Musk. She described her relationship with Musk then as “collegial.”
But the Wall Street Journal stood by its reporting.
Brin, aged 50, is currently the ninth richest person globally, with a net worth of $118 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
