Saudi ministry issues guidelines over female pilgrims’ Ihram
Saudi Arabia has issued guidelines regarding dress of female pilgrims defining what they can wear while performing Umrah and Hajj.
The ministry issued a three-point advisory on X, formally known as Twitter, in which they directed women to wear a dress with loose-fitting, the dress shouldn’t be decorative elements, and the dress should cover the entire body.
It added that females were allowed to wear any clothes as per their choice, but the dress should meet with conditions provided by the ministry.
Last year, the kingdom allowed women to perform Umrah without a male guardian. The adviser of Hajj and Umrah services Ahmed Saleh Halabi said that it is now permissible for a woman to perform Hajj or Umrah without a mahram, accompanied by “trustworthy women or secure company to perform Hajj or Umrah. This is the view of the Maliki and Shafi’i scholars.”
Almost three million Pakistanis reached the Kingdom to perform Hajj after authorities allowed the Hajj to proceed on its pre-pandemic scale last year.
