India thrashed Pakistan in the Super Fours of the Asia Cup on Monday. The co-hosts of the mega event were able to make 128 runs while chasing 357 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Monday. Spinner Kuldeep Yadav bagged five wickets.

Mohammad Rizwan was caught behind off Shardul Thakur’s delivery.

Pakistan were two down against India in the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup on Monday. Skipper Babar Azam was bowled by Hardik Pandya. He followed Imamul Haq who was caught at second slip off Jasprit Bumrah’s delivery.

Pakistan were 43/2 before rain abandoned the play.

India has set a mammoth target of 357 runs for Pakistan. Indian batters were in full control of the match.

India resumed their innings on Monday after rain called off the match on Sunday. Indian batters were in complete control against Pakistan in the blockbuster contest, with KL Rahul and former skipper Virat Kohli making centuries

They made 200 runs of partnership against one of the best bowling attacks in the world.

It was a memorable day for Kohli as he made 13,000 runs in the one-day internationals.

The high-voltage contest between Pakistan and India finally resumed on the reserve day, Monday, but with a blow for the co-hosts of the tournament as Haris Rauf has been ruled out of the match due to injury.

“Fast bowler Haris Rauf will not be bowling any further in the Asia Cup Super 4 match against India as a precautionary measure,” the Pakistan Cricket Board said in a statement.

Heavy rain in Colombo on Monday afternoon threatened to wash out the reserve day of the blockbuster Super Four clash at the Asia Cup between India and Pakistan.

“He felt a little discomfort in his right flank during the match yesterday and was subsequently taken for a precautionary MRI, which revealed no tear,” said the PCB.

The right-arm fast bowler, who has been a crucial part of Pakistan’s pace batter, remained under the observation of the team’s medical panel.

India resumed the innings from where it was abandoned, with Virat Kohli facing Shadab Khan.

Only 24.1 overs were possible on Sunday when the arch-rivals met for the second time in the 50-over tournament, a precursor to the upcoming ODI World Cup.

India are scheduled to resume their innings on 147-2 at 3:00 pm (0930 GMT) at Sri Lanka’s R. Premadasa Stadium, but the chances of a timely start look unlikely with unrelenting rain keeping the ground fully covered.

The extra day was a last-minute addition to the Super Four clash - the only game to get the advantage other than the final - after a previous group meeting between the two teams was washed out due to rain in Pallekele.

Virat Kohli, on eight, and KL Rahul, on 17, were batting when rain forced the players off on Sunday.

The teams will share the points if there is a washout.

India are scheduled to play Sri Lanka on Tuesday at the same venue.
