Four deportees with suspects monkeypox cases escape from airport
Four travellers with suspected cases of monkeypox fled from the Islamabad International Airport after they were deported from Libya on Saturday.
Sources told Aaj News that staff of the border health services failed to shift them to the hospital and all individuals ran away when they were being transferred to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) hospital in Islamabad.
The sources said that four, who were identified as Rehman Tariq, Ali Hamza, Zulqarnain, and Naeem, had arrived in Pakistan from Libya on a special flight that carried deportees.
They were isolated during the screening process at the airport.
The authorities were trying to re-arrest them without success.
Libya has reported several cases of monkeypox and travellers arriving in Pakistan from the country have to undergo screening at Pakistani airports.
