Traffic resumed on Friday on Karachi’s Teen Hatti three hours after residents blocked the road in protest against what they said was unannounced load shedding of electricity and gas, the police said.

The traffic police in its update on X, formerly known as Twitter, at 10:19pm said that the peak hour ended. They shared details about the flow of traffic in four districts of the city.

Traffic was jammed on roads connecting to Teen Hatti in the evening evening after people blocked the roads.

“The traffic is being diverted from Post Office to Nazimabad and Gurmandir to Jamshed Road and also from Lasbela to Nazimabad,” said the traffic police while sharing the alternative routes.

A large number of protesters belonging to the Martin Quartes were present on the site who burned tyres and blocked the road.

They blocked the roads leading to and from Liaquatabad to Gurumandir.

Last month, protesters blocked one of the busiest routes of Karachi, Baloch Colony bridge, for more than three hours. The traffic was cleared the police assured the protesters of restoring the supply of electricity to their area.

School vans, motorists, and drivers were stuck in traffic jams. The people were protesting against what they claimed unavailability of water and inflated power bills.
