Scales of justice still tilted in favour of Imran Khan: Khawaja Asif
Former Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said that the scales of justice are still not balanced as PTI chief Imran Khan has been given continuous favours.
“The judiciary has been giving special treatment to Khan. The courts approved dozens of bail applications in one go,” he told Asma Shirazi on Faisla Aap Ka.
“They [courts] are still doing it. The [courts] treatment between Imran Khan and Nawaz Sharif is poles apart,” he said.
He called for holding accountable General Faiz Hameed (retd) and General Qamar Javed Bajwa (retd) for allegedly derailing the economic progress by disqualifying Sharif.
“Along with these, Justice Saqib Nisar (retd) and Justice Asif Khosa (retd) also took decisions on personal agendas against Nawaz Sharif rather than giving judgments on merit. There should be a correction of them,” he added.
Talking about Sharif’s return, he said that the former prime minister was scheduled to return to Pakistan in September, however, the plan has been changed to make sure that his return is in the best interest of him and his party.
“Nawaz Sharif will return to Pakistan in the second week of October based on my information. His return after an election date is announced will be more beneficial for us. His [Sharif] return in October is almost certain,” he said.
Responding to a question regarding the establishment’s role in Sharif’s return, Asif said that the establishment has no role in his return or his cases that are pending in the courts.
He claimed that the provision of 100 units of free electricity would be possible if the country put an end to electricity theft by the elites.
“The government-run power plants are audited but private plants resist their audits. The IPPs will have to be part of the solution. At present, they are part of the problem.
