Asia Cup: Sri Lanka to bat first after winning toss

The game is a must-win for Afghanistan

Sri Lanka’s captain Dasun Shanaka won the toss against Afghanistan and decided to bat first at Qaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Tuesday.

He confirmed that Sri Lanka’s playing XI remain unchanged for the match which is being played on a hot and humid day while the pitch is drier than from two days ago.

The game is a must-win for the Afghan side to keep their hopes alive in the tournament. They lost their last match against Afghanistan.

Sri Lanka XI included Dimuth Karunaratne, Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis (wk), Sadeera Samarawickrama, Charith Asalanka, Dhananjaya de Silva, Dasun Shanaka (c), Dunith Wellalage, Maheesh Theekshana, Kasun Rajitha and Matheesha Pathirana.

Afghanistan fielded Rahmanullah Gurbaz (wk), Ibrahim Zadran, Rahmat Shah, Hashmatullah Shahidi (c), Najibullah Zadran, Mohammad Nabi, Gulbadin Naib, Karim Janat, Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Fazalhaq Farooqi.
