Islamabad Metrobus rates raised by Rs20 to Rs40
The Capital Development Authority has decided to raise fares for three routes of Islamabad’s metrobus service.
The fares will be raised for the Green, Blue and Orange line services. The original metrobus route from Saddar to Secretariat will continue to operate on the same rates.
The proposal about the increase in fares was tabled in a meeting of the CDA board on Tuesday. The board approved the fare hike however, the notification is yet to be issued.
The fares for the Green Line, which runs from PIMS to Bhara Kahu, and Blue Line, which runs from PIMS to Koral, have been raised from Rs30 to Rs50.
The fare of the Orange Line, which runs from Peshawar Mor to the airport, from Rs50 to Rs90.
During the meeting, CDA Chairman Captain (r) Anwaar ul Haq remarked that the increase in metrobus fares was inevitable since the authority did not have money to run the buses on subsidised rates.
