Three martyred as Pakistan Navy helicopter crashes in Gwadar

A Pakistan Navy helicopter crashed near Gwadar on Monday, leading to the martyrdom of three officials, a military spokesperson said.

The martyred included two officers and one soldier. The helicopter was on a training flight when it met an accident.

A statement from the Pakistan Navy said that the crash had occurred due to possible technical failure.

An investigation is under way to determine the cause of the incident, according to the Pakistan Navy.

The statment did not provide further details about the helicopter but other reports said it was a Westland WS-61 Sea King helicopter.

Sea King is an anti-ship helicopter but has earned a reputation of the rescue aircraft over decades across the world.

Pakistan Navy has been operating Sea King helicopters since 1974 when the first batch was acquired from the United States.

The squadron played a key role in flood Relief Operations in Sindh in 2011.
