Lahore ATC allows Imran Khan’s arrest from Attock jail

May 9 JIT to investigate Imran Khan on August 25

An anti-terrorism court in Lahore has allowed the police to arrest PTI Chief Imran Khan for investigation in the Lahore Core Commander House attack case. Khan is currently serving his three-year sentence after he was convicted in the Toshakhana criminal case.

The Lahore ATC on Wednesday conducted the hearing on a plea filed by DIG Investigation Imran Kishwar, requesting permission to arrest the former prime minister for investigations in the May 9 riots case.

In his plea, DIG Imran said that Khan is currently imprisoned in the Attock jail after a court convicted him under the Election Act.

May 9 JIT to investigate Khan in Attock jail

The Joint Investigation Team probing the May 9 violence is set to visit Attock jail on August 25 to investigate the PTI chairman regarding the violent protest that erupted after his arrest on May 9, sources said.

DIG Imran will lead the three-member team to grill the former prime minister. Khan has twice appeared before the JIT to answer the team’s questions.

The PTI chief appeared before the JIT on July 14, where he was asked 35 questions regarding his role or involvement in managing the alleged attacks on the Corps Commander House Lahore and other military installations in Lahore.

On July 28, a police complaint was registered against Imran Khan for issuing “threats” to the members of the JIT investigating the attack on the Lahore Corp Commander’s House also known as Jinnah House.
