British girl death: Sara Sharif’s paternal uncles released after brief detention

The Jhelum police released Urfan Sharif’s two brothers, detained in connection with the death of a British girl, Sara Sharif, who was found dead in her father’s Woking home on August 10, sources said.

The two men Imran and Zareef were ‘arrested’ after they were summoned for questioning. However, they were released after they guaranteed they would take back their writ which they filed before the Lahore High Court against their illegal detention.

They were detained in the Pakistani city of Jhelum and were being questioned about the whereabouts of Sara’s father, Urfan Sharif.

Urfan fled the UK with his Pakistani wife and five children leaving the body of ten-year-old Sara alone at his Woking home. He called the British police only after landing in Islamabad, according to the British daily MailOnline.

Earlier, sources In Jhelum told Aaj News that Jhelum police ‘arrested’ Imran and Zareef, both brothers of Urfan Sharif after they were summoned for questioning. The family filed a writ before the Lahore High Court against their illegal detention, said the sources.

A court bailiff raided a police detention facility in Jhelum on the order of LHC after the petition was filed.

Police sources said the men will be set free on the guarantee of the family.

Urfan Sharif still remains at large, said the police sources.

Imran Sharif reportedly told the Pakistani police that Sara died after she fell down the stairs and broke her neck, according to MailOnline

Irfan’s Pakistani wife “Binish was home with the children. Sara fell down the stairs and broke her neck. Binish panicked and phoned Irfan,” he was quoted as saying.

Sara Sharif was found dead and alone at her father’s home in the village of Horsell, near Woking on August 10, according to the reports in the British press. By the time the family had left the UK. They booked tickets on August 9.

The British police issued pictures of Urfan Sharif, Binish Batool and Faisal Malik, who is said the be Urfan’s brother.

Sources said that British agencies are seeking Sara’s father as they believe that he killed his daughter and they were in contact with Pakistani Police.

Surrey Police are continuing to appeal for information about Sara’s death, reported Sky News and added that they would like to speak to anyone who knew the girl or her family.
