Imaan Mazari was granted in one of two cases she is being held for on Tuesday. However, the bail will not lead to her release immediately.

A district and sessions court in Islamabad approved her bail in case registered in Tarnol police station that accused her of interference in state affairs and vandalism.

Judicial Magistrate Waqas Ahmed heard the case on Tuesday where the court was told by Mazair’s lawyer that investigations had not yielded any substantial results.

The lawyer added that Mazari had not vandalised anything or abused anyone.

However, the prosecutor opposed her bail saying she had abused state institutions.

The judge overruled the prosecutor’s concerns and approved Mazari’s bail against surety bonds worth Rs30,000.

Mazari is currently in police custody on a three-day remand in a terrorism case. The remand was approved by an anti-terrorism court in Islamabad on Monday.

Mazari, daughter of former human rights minister Shireen Mazari, was arrested on Sunday from her house after she delivered a fiery speech in a Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement rally in the capital.

PTM’s ALi Wazir was also taken into custody on similar charges. The ATC was told during a hearing that almost 900 people had been implicated in similar cases.
