Newly appointed Inspector General Sindh Riffat Mukhtar’s first meeting hit a hurdle as several senior officers refused to attend.

Reports said that the six officers who refused to attend are much senior to Mukhtar, who is serving in Grade-21 and is from the 24th common.

He was appointed as the new Sindh inspector general of police on Saturday replacing Ghulam Nabi Memon who was directed to report to the establishment division.

The officers who opted to abstain from the meeting included Additional IGs Javed Odho, Imran Yaqoob, Munir Shaikh and Muzzaffar Shaikh among others.

AIG Imran Yaqoob and AIG Muzzaffar Shaikh are graduates of the 19th CTP, AIG Farhat Ali Junejo is from the 21st CTP and AIG Javed Odho was in the 22nd CTP. AIG Munir Shaikh is from the 23rd CTP.

Reports added that Khadim Hussain Rind, another AIG, is from Mukhtar’s batch but even he is higher in seniority to the IG.

Mukhtar was appointed IG in a massive shakeup of the bureaucracy as soon as the caretaker government took charge.
