The police have recovered four minor maids from an influential man’s house in Sindh’s Ranipur where Fatima was working as a maid, Khairpur SPP Mir Rohal Khan Khoso said on Sunday.

The maids had been confined in the house and were also subjected to torture, he said, adding that the maids will be handed over to their families after completing the necessary process.

The case of Fatima, 10, came to light through social media when a video of the house went viral.

Meanwhile, Sukkur DIG Javed Jiskani said that the police have arrested the MS of the Rural Health Centre of Ranipur, Ali Hasan for allegedly refusing to provide an ambulance to Fatima.

He went on to add that police continue to take DNA samples of the house’s male residents and the samples of eight people including prime suspect Asad Shah have been taken for examination.

Earlier, sources said that the residents of the house escaped after the information about a police search operation leaked. The law enforcement agencies restricted movement around the house while a police post was established near the residence where Fatima died, they added.

She was found dead in Asad Shah’s house in the Ranipur taluka of Khairpur district. Initial reports claimed she was killed and that marks of torture were found on her body.

Reports claimed that she was buried without a post-mortem examination. A statement from the police supported claims about evidence of sexual assault.

A medical board later revealed that she was raped. SPP Khoso said the DNA sample of the accused matched the victim’s DNA sample that the medical board obtained on Saturday.

Shah, the prime suspect was arrested on August 16 after police registered an FIR. He was brought to a public sector hospital on Sunday morning where doctors collected his DNA samples.

A day after Fatima’s death, Ujala who worked at the same house in Ranipur made horrifying revelations.

She also claimed to have suffered at the hands of the Shah family.

Ujala said that a lady named Hina Shah would make her work the entire day, especially pressing her hard for three to four hours. However, even if she made the slightest mistake other servants would be asked to beat her.

She added that she once spilled a bottle of phenyl by mistake and Hina Shah personally beat her with sticks and wipers.
