Train delays help prevent child kidnapping in Punjab’s Pattoki
Almost everyone hates train delays especially when they are travelling long distances. But in a rare case, a child was rescued from the clutches of a kidnapper only because a train was delayed.
In Punjab’s Pattoki city, a woman allegedly kidnapped a three year boy and boarded a train to Lahore. She would have escaped with the child had the train left the platform on time. But it was delayed allowing the child’s parents to reach the railway station and found the kidnapper with their son.
The woman, Siddiqa Bibi, allegedly kidnapped three-year-old Ali from the Kashif Chowk area of Pattoki and boarded a train for Lahore.
Trains in Pakistan have faced long delays this week following a deadly derailment near Nawabshah on Monday that left 30 people dead and damaged the track. The track was restored early Tuesday morning but trains continued to face delays.
Hence, the train that Siddiqa Bibi boarded did not leave according to schedule and the alleged kidnapper waited for its departure sitting in one of the bogies.
Meanwhile, the child’s parents and other relatives arrived at the railway station and began looking into bogies with the help of railway police.
They soon found the child with Siddiqa Bibi who was arrested by the police.
Reports said Siddiqa Bibi has already been jailed for child abduction. During interrogation, she coughed up names of three accomplices.
