Housemaid flees with jewelry and cash worth millions from house in DHA Karachi

A resident of DHA area of Karachi was out millions when a maid working at his house stole 80 tola of gold and Rs2 million from his locker.

A first information report under Section 381 (Theft by clerk or servant or property in possession of master) and Section 34 (Criminal acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code was registered at the Defence police station.

The complainant, Shah Zaman Khan in the FIR said that the suspect Zainab, who was working as a cleaner at his house, brought two girls on August 1, to his home to ask for a job for them.

“One of them diverted my mother’s attention while Zainab and the other girl went up to the first floor. A while later, they came down and told my mother that they needed to go for something and left the house,” he added.

Later, when Khan’ mother needed to take out money from the locker, they could not find the key to open it, the FIR states.

Upon opening the safe with another key, they found 80 tolas of gold and Rs2 million missing, it added.

The police said that they have acquired the CCTV footages of the house and surrounding areas while the investigations are underway in this regard.
