Military trial of civilians: SC to announce decision on full court on Aug 2

Details of 102 detainees presented in court

The Supreme Court has decided to announce its reserved decision on a set of petitions challenging the trials of civilians in military courts on August 2 (tomorrow).

A six-member Supreme Court resumed hearing a set of petitions challenging the trials of civilians in military courts. The bench comprises Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial, Justice Ijazul Ahsan, Justice Munib Akhtar, Justice Yahya Afridi, Justice Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi and Justice Ayesha A Malik.

The attorney general for Pakistan told the court that seven accused were involved in GHQ attack; four accused attacked army institute, 28 accused attacked Jinnah House (Corps Commanders House) in Lahore, from Multan and 10 from Gujranwala were accused for their involvement in Garrison attack.

Moreover, eight suspects were involved in the attack on ISI office Faisalabad and five were involved in the PF Base Mianwali attack; 14 suspects were involved in the Chakdara attack, seven suspects were involved in the attack on Punjab Regiment Centre Mardan, three from Abbottabad and 10 apparently attacked the Bannu Garrison.

The attorney general said that the accused were arrested on the basis of CCTV camera and other evidence.
