Only non-registered water connections are being cut: Wahab
Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab has clarified that only non-registered water connections were being cut while advising people to submit an application to the water board for restoration of connection.
“The areas where the water connection is cut off should submit an application to the water board,” he told reporters in Karachi. “Connections have been cut to stop water theft.”
At least 27 illegal connections have been cut in the metropolitan city, the mayor said and stressed the mega city would get its share of water.

“Illegal water connections will not be allowed,” said Wahab.
Earlier this week, the treasury told Sindh Assembly that the shortage of water in the city would continue to persist until the completion of the K-IV or Greater Karachi Water Supply Scheme.
Six call-attention notices were presented during the session to bring the government’s attention towards the persistent water shortage.
Karachi needed 1,200 million gallons of water per day (MGD), while it was getting only 600 MGD from two of its sources, Saleem Baloch, the parliamentary secretary for the local government department, said.
“Almost 100MGD water is wasted due to leakages,” he said, adding that the residents were actually supplied only 500MGD.
